Assessment of ADHD/ADD
Better Brain Services highly recommends a comprehensive assessment when attention/hyperactivity issues are suspected by parents or teachers. A full psychoeducational assessment provides an informed diagnostic picture to guide treatment planning. This type of evaluation includes cognitive assessment, academic / achievement testing, and multiple behavioral measures.
The assessment of learning disorders requires a comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation as well as information about a child's response to interventions that may be implemented in the school setting. Cognitive processing, behavior checklists, and other measures are used on a case by case basis.
Gifted testing involves the administration of an IQ test specifically designed for children/teens to measure general cognitive abilities. Testing is done one on one with the student and usually takes 60-90 minutes. Results are put into a detailed report that is provided to parents and can be shared with educators to help determine eligibility for gifted programs. Gifted testing can typically be done within 1-2 weeks.
Autism Spectrum Disorder Evaluations are now available for children as young as three years old. The evaluations are conducted in the office and include observations of the child, administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition (ADOS-2), a developmental history, diagnostic interview, parent questionnaires, and teacher questionnaires (if applicable). Additional measures may include cognitive ability and academic achievement testing.
Mental Health and Substance Abuse Evaluations
Better Brain Services offers individual or combined Mental Health and Substance Abuse Evaluations that include a diagnostic interview and biopsychosocial history. Formal assessments may be added on a case by case basis depending on the presenting concerns. The results of the evaluation as with all other assessments, will be shared with you in the form of a detailed report with treatment recommendations.
